before he finally gives in to desire.

Been waiting for the Hoodlum to become available on the Buck website ever since it was announced. Last night I finally reached my breaking point and placed my order. Didn't get the Hoodlum since it's still unavailable but I did pop for another Vantage Pro (sold my first one to a coworker last year and have regretted it ever since) and the new Chairman 110 with leather sheath. Also ordered several Buck hats.

It'll be nice to get the Vantage Pro back in my EDC lineup and as a fledgling 110 collector the Chairman is one I'll be anxious to get in hand as well.

Anyone else reach their breaking point lately.

Yes, I did snag one, but it was in a trade. You'll love the knife...it is one of the neatest designs that Buck has come up with in the last few years. I did get an e-mail forwarded to me of some fool trying to smack a Hoodlum through a seasoned oak log. All the while I was thinking about introducing the nimrod to an axe. The Hoodlum is long and slender, more on the light side of a 'survival' knife. It packs REALLY well and is quite a bit lighter than my Basic 9 rig. My Hoodlum is scary sharp as well. To tell you the truth, I'd love to see Buck come out with a 119 and a 120 in carbon steel. That would be a wonderful marriage of style and function while keeping us knife addicts delighted!

Actually Stubai I didn't order the Hoodlum. Got tired of waiting for it and ordered the Vantage Pro and 110 instead. I'll just keep waiting for the Hoodlum but at least now I've got something headed my way to tide me over in the meantime.

FWIW

I received my order today and I'm pretty pleased. First off the Chairman Series 110. Beautiful knife. I love everything about it from the nickle bolsters and cherry Dymondwood scales to the blue Buck shield and Chucks signature. A very nice looking knife and one I'm proud to add to my collection of 110's. There is one issue though. Of all my 110's, around 18 or so this is the only one with a blade not centered. On mine the blade tip is just a hair away from kissing the side. There was a little polishing grit and I was hoping a bath with hot water and dish soap might change things but alas, it did not. Not a big issue IMO but frankly I was half expecting this to be the case with the Vantage Pro and not the 110.

Ok, now to the Vantage Pro. As I mentioned in my first post I miss the first one I had and am sure glad I decided to get another. Blade is centered, perfectly. No play and good lockup. The scales seem a little different than my first but maybe not. Either way I'm very pleased with it, it also came pretty darn sharp.

Will try and get some pics up in the SPS for this week.

Thanks to everyone at Buck knives.

P.S. Got two of the hats I ordered, the woodland pattern is on back order. Really like the way they look, (burnt orange and olive) and consider them a pretty good deal, especially with by BCCI discount. Now I just have to decide which one goes best with my eyes and skin tone.

I think as long as it's not actually kissing the side, it'll be fine.

I have some almost-kissers, too. I think everybody does.

:)
