I'm just curious...
Who here carries a multi-tool that is NOT a Leatherman, Gerber, SOG, or Victorinox?

And how well has it worked for you?
Are you happy with it or not?
Which tools work really great and which ones don't perform as well?

Thanks,
Allen.

I carried a Schrade Tough Tool for a couple of years until I lost it. Good tool and quite affordable. However, I replaced it with a Leatherman Wave and it seems to be much better so far.

Before the Schrade, I tried a Bear MGC multitool. Busted the large screwdriver blade the very first day. Gave it back to the retailer after a short argument. He thought I should send it in for warranty. What a crock! It was only used ONE TIME! He finally relented and took it back.

When it comes to multitools, I'm sticking with Leatherman products from now on. :)

I carry a Buck Tool, either a Model 360, regular version with tools that Lock open, or a Model 355, BuckLite Tool, same tools, non-locking, slightly different handle design, almost everyday. I love them. They just feel "right" in my hand - open easy and fast - strong enough and I basically forget they are on my belt until I need one. One of the things I like about the Buck tools is they open differently then most. When holding a Leatherman in front of you, handles down, the handles pull to the side to open. Holding a Buck the same way, one handle goes forward while the other goes back to open. I think this is smoother and I know it allows me to use a tool, such as a screwdriver, with the handle only half open, holding the other half in my hand for more torque if needed. It may sound awkward and maybe I'm not explianing it right, but it is very comfortable and effective.

My only real complaint is that Buck has discontinued both model from their production. Hopefully they will bring them back soon!!!

I own at least one tool from each of the 4 you mentioned. In addition, I've bought a schrade, buck tool, and Bear Cutlery tool. I used each of these 3 just for a day or so and returned them. The fit and finish on the Bear was terrible, and the buck tool handles would fold up on me and I got bit buy the knife that would snap shut. (And I mean Snap. )
