So a couple of months ago I got myself a Centofante 3, a Calypso Jr. (ZDP189), and a Atlantic Salt (SE).

Obviously, I need another Spyderco knife. Something that I could EDC, but not made with FRN. I am thinking of something higher end - G10 perhaps? I prefer lockbacks, for ambidextrous use, or a ball bearing lock perhaps. The up and coming Pakal knife looks great, but I am not sure if that would be a real user or not. Any suggestions?

Well, you don't have a heavy duty one in there. The Manix comes to mind if you want G-10 and a lockback. The ergos on it are the best out there, many people including myself are amazed to find that the Manix seems to be specifically made to fit perfectly.

deffinately get the manix...to me its the PERFECT folder. I love everything about it, it feels really good in my hand too. It does take up alot of space in your pocket but its worth it.

Full size Manix is a little large for EDC, the 83mm version might be a little better. The small different in size will make a big difference in your pocket.

since the larger one has a blade longer than 3.5" and the smaller one doesn't.....the small difference in size will make a big difference in the legality of carrying it in your pocket in most jurisdictions as well.

Another excellent point to consider:cool:

Well, that looks fairly unanimous so far. The mini Manix was high on my list, along with the Stretch (although I hear some negativity about the Krayton).

I am thinking about EDC Manix, but I am not sure. I do not have any Spyderco dealers, who have it in stock, so I will have to buy it on line. The only concern is it too big or not. So far, the only big knives I EDC were Endura and BM 520 Presidio. I know that Manix has 3.75" blade length, but it is wide also. How does it feel to compare to Endura or Presidio? I do not like mini-manix's length to width ratio.
I will appreciate any help.

I reckon you should throw the D'Allara drop point into considerations here as well. We've been discussing it over in Knive Reveiws and Testing. It's a very solid, high-quality piece of kit. For me it competes directly with the Manix's.

Don't know about the BM, but the Endura is thinner(blade and overall) than the Manix. The Manix is pretty wide comparatively. But it's not so wide that it's uncomfortable, it fills the hand, which is something I like in larger knives.

I wish I had pictures I could post, but sadly, I don't. Sorry.
