I bought this stockman in 81 to replace my 63032, and it was too big back then and too much blade wobble, so it remained a safe queen. When I saw this trapper on the trade forum my eyeballs were all over it:eek:
Same year, color, condition. Same Jigging on the back side. It's rare to come across a match to a knife you already have, a mint one especially. If anyone knows what case called this color please let me know. Brown with specks of blues at the ends.
Hey Vince, thanks for the trade. Check out this pair that will beat a full house....

Case never called that bone color by any name. For most of Case's history, in their catalogs and price lists, bone was just "bone"...they actually referred to it as "bone stag"....but Case never mentioned bone colors for their standard product line of knives. Though starting in 1978 they did start introducing bone colors on certain special pocketknife lines. It was not until 1996 that every bone handled knife in the Case catalog had a specific defined bone color.

Absolutely beautiful...I don't think that color has a name other than brown, the blue at the edges is just chance, a result of the way the dye penetrates and the way the bone is then thinned at the ends to meet the bolster evenly.

As for a pair that can't be beat...well I have this straight of Bulldogs......

Thanks. Nice straight of bulldogs too. SMKW used to have a set in duckfeather that had the heart, diamond, club and spade shields. That would be a set to have.

Thanks for the comps guys. After getting the trapper I think I'll try to get more 81's in that bone.

Those look nice..
I like the bone that has a little different coloring to it. To me it adds character.
It almost looks like it has a touch of what Case called their Appoloosa (spl) bone

I gave 'em a mineral bath today. The bone is poppin now. You must have the equivelent numbers in red Mike. Post 'em up. You don't have the dots, yours are older XX's right?

I do Steve. It might take me awhile though. My wife was attempting to clean our computer of excess file and ended up wiping everything off.
We are using my sons computer in the mean time and haven't got the picture thing figured out yet. I know she saved some of the pics, but now I just have to find them. She called HP to get a recovery disc, and they don't sell them because the unit is over 5 years old
