Perhaps this has been asked and answered before but here goes.

Does Buck have an outlet in China where legitimate Bucks (particularly Chinese made one's) are sold to the public or to retailers there? I know that real ones end up there one way or another because we have some native Chinese there who have collections of them. I know there is one and maybe more who are or were forum members.

If so, that might put to rest some of the paranoia about every Buck, even those that seem authentic in every detail, that are being sold out of that country.

Good question; I've wondered the same thing. Also wonder if the "fakes" are manufactured in the same factory as the legitimate China-made Bucks??

When I worked in Eastern Europe at a publication house, printing & bindery this was always a concern that if we didn't keep a close eye on things, things would walk. It is so easy to run off extras on an assembly line, especially the more mechanized it is. We would find "copies" sold in the city and other cities at kiosks and flea markets - unauthorized sales. We were selling wholesale to large outlets in other countries. Once on a subway we even saw a guy walk on with a huge plastic bag of a new run of books that we hadn't even shipped out yet. The guy didn't even work at our plant. Also, if we didn't ship out our stuff immediately, pallets would somehow get slightly lighter and lighter. It was a strange experience.

Interesting. If something like that is happening, then it would seem to me that the contactor making the knives for Buck would be the loser. I doubt that Buck would pay for knives that they never receive in the US. If that's happening, the knives are genuine, just stolen.

FYI
This is the spot they are made..Yangjiang, China. Cultery is a big business as per cities website.....google

I had a little more info, but am post crash working up a new Windows 7 computer and it is a beach....a big dark cold beach
The info is on a backup and someday I will figure out how to get it on the new comp.

I've got popcorn watching this one. Joe usually checks in on Friday afternoons, before now. DM

We've tried to talk about the Chinese operations before and pretty much hit a stonewall about it.

Seems to be a reluctance to talk details.

I don't think there's much that Joe can say.

Sensitive topic.

Research the name XIA63. The Buck brother that posts here out of Beijing. I am pretty sure he has mentioned buying Bucks from a retail store there. Maybe not,,,but pretty sure...kinda sorta...

Email him.
