for those who use paracord to wrap the handles of their escrima's - here is an example of another type of knot you can do besides the strider or blair stix style wrap.

its a basic turks head knot, with one differnece. instead of just making a turks head knot, you start it off at a lanyard hole. with one end of your cord, you make a figure eight with the center of the 8 going through the lanyard hole. you take the long end of your cord and do the turks head. every time you come back around, you loop the cord through the 8, so that you have a stationary lock on the entire knot, so it cant slip up or down the stick. what you end up with is a weave pattern that is very tight, and stationary. the main problem i have with other wraps, especially with askrima sticks, is that if you do any kind of thrusting, the paracord loops will shift forward leaving patches of the stick visible in the handle wrap. wich can get pretty annoying, and if bad enough, start to effect the function of the handle.

just thought ya'll might want to see it, it turned out rather nice.

the reason its so short is because in order to make it longer, i wouldnt have had to spend another hour or 3 on it adding weaves, and its pretty dificult on a pole. you have to use tape to keep the top of the knot stable so you can see what your supposed to do and not have it mash down and get all cluttered.

Hi!
I like the handle! :) Looks clean designed and handy.
May you tell me - where can I find a graphic explanation of making turks head knot?
And (forgive me givind you advice) you don't need to burn the end of the rope. You can fix it with any kind of super glue, then cut off the excess. :)

when burning the end of paracord, you can shape the melted tip to whatever shape you want, be it a wide and thick ball, or a very thin and pointed end. the fatter balls are good for retaining knots, and the pointier spiked end (pinching and pulling away from the cord) are excellent for weaving in and out of tight knots.

glue would work, but im very low on funds, and glue would require me to wash my hands in gas to get it off (i hate having sticky fingers), and i prefer the simple, quick, and reletively precise burned end on my paracord.

i do need to find a way of ending my knots without actually tying off the end pieices though...

i got the knot description and explanation from ashleys book of knots, its expensive, but its well worth the money if you are ever going to get into weaving, or knot tying
