Daniel I was thinking (I know scary thought),

What are your thoughts on two thin blades one chisel ground for a left hander the other chisel ground for a Right hander. That have a quick connect of some sort that attach them together as a Double grind but can quickly break apart.... Too mall Ninja? haha

Ryan, I have had this same thought for a while. I wonder how the edge(s) will react with a wedging force between them. Possibilities of sticktion between both back sides? If nothing more than for the ultimate cool factor of a transformer knife that will make all the trench coat clad, bicycle guards, magazine rack experts bow at your feet in the presence of the DFK split personality knife(s)!

I want to see it made!

Use small rare earth magnets in the handles to keep them together.

It'd have to be a push together and slide a 1/2 into locking position, with really only one of the blades doing the cutting when "as one"...Need to have a thumb toggle on the handle to disengage... or rare earth magnets! :D
 
I had one once but it was a knife, fork, spoon combo. Chisel of course.

OK it took me a while to get to this point... not laughing so hard that I can type again!

On one hand I think it sounds kind of crazy and not do-able but then again... it could be fun! I think it could really work as a self defense blade but any sensible attacker would run before you could use it. Then again they have bath salts and that type of thing, one could come in handy. I think the one blade morphing into two could be too trippy for any attacker.

important part ---> You can't think practicality or you keep going back to the "too crazy" argument, I'm thinking Jimmy Page would have wanted one for the wizard scene in "Song Remains the Same" and that is good enough for me.

Butterfly sword, sounds sweet!

I'm still trying to figure out some knife nunchuks, they will be cool! Maybe a three way nunchuck with a knife, a butterfly knife and a maul. My engineering team is on it, we will make it happen!
