I came across some A2 and I am wanting to know what the edge holding
ability of it is Vs D2.I know D2 has a rep for holding a keen edge
also how how workable is the A2
Thanks:)

If you use the search function you'll find a lot of alloy comparisons with A2 and D2 on the forums. D2 has more alloying elements than A2 and D2 works well up around 62 RC. D2 takes a very effective edge and wears well. A2 is tougher than D2 and works very well around 60 RC. It takes a finer edge than D2, more of a razor edge. D2 has a lot of chrome is almost a stainless steel and has some corrosion resistance. A2 has much less chrome and takes a patina relatively easily. BTW the 'A' in A2 stands for Air hardening.
