Actually USING custom ABS forged hunters::caution GRAPHIC::

I shot a bruiser with my bow and had a Burt Foster laminate "san mai" hunter and a light little forged Damascus hunter/utility from Mace Vitale.
Both are light and sharp and perfectly suited for the task. The elk was big and I had him gutted, skinned/caped and quartered in about two hours, using both knives. When the outfitter got there with his mules he handled both knives and was impressed with their edge retention compared to the production steel he was carrying.
Hell maybe I even generated an order.

I thought I would post a few shots of the blades in actual use, I know some of the makers like to see their own stuff get bloody.

Thanks Josh. I was going to bring your take down out there, but thought better of it.

I would love some feedback from you (et.all) as to how I could incorporate the ivory(s) into a blade handle.

wow i love seeing knives like that being used....i love it...i use as many of my customs as i can!.....gross pics:D but it's good to see....ryan

Great looking bull and the knives aint half bad either;)

May I ask where you took him? Guided or unguided? Is it rifle season where your at? I know the seasons are different depending on the state.

Nice...........................!:D
Love seeing pics of my knives being used.
Thanks
Mace

Barrabas - the nearset town to where I was is Maher CO.
and it was an archery drop camp unguided. but you pay for access and a stocked wall tent, with cots, water, food and fuel set up and if you get one, you radio it in and they bring the mules back and pack you out. We were way back up in there. there is about 60 sq miles of untouched country down there only accessible by horseback.

here is a pic of the country. it goes from dark timber and aspen all the way down to gamble oak, scrub oak and sage.

HOW COULD YOU!?!

Just Kidding. I think it would be real hard not to use any ABS knives. I am getting a Hanson Slip soon that I decided to carry (unless it ends up being too big).

I can't actually see the pictures, I don't know why but they aren't loading at this time.

Great bull, Blake!
Nice to see customs being used, thanks for this.:thumbup:

That Foster laminate is sweet. I think I've held that one or one very similar. How did you like the laminate blade?
