Hello, my name is Jason and I'm an addict.
I started out a few years ago making small hunters. I tried making a few camp knives but got too frustrated trying to keep them straight so I gave them up. A few more years of small knives and I was ready to try again. This was my first creation http://www.bladegallery.com/knives/knife.asp?knifeid=2048&pics=small&alt=one I made a few more that size, but after a while it just wasn't enough. Now I am working on a 13" bladed beast of a knife, and I can still imagine one bigger. Is there any end to this madness? When is a big knife big enough? Will I become another statistic? One more in a long line of knifemakers turned swordsmiths?
Does anyone know of a way to enjoy the smaller knives again?

I think this is the Knife you had at the oregon show. It was really a well made bowie and priced to sell in a snap. Glad to see Bladegallery is working for you. Keep up making long blades and you will end up making swords naturally. I think that is where Im heading in the future too. Heat-treating is the only real trouble with long knives and swords. See Ya again next year.

Of couse you still make the occasional snappy little number:

Yeah bruce that's the one. Hehe, I checked bladegallery almost every day for a month and a half waiting for the pictures to show up. Finally I called Daniel to see what was holding it up and he says it sold about 3 weeks ago and the check was already in the mail. :D Both of the knives I gave him at the show sold within 3 days of going on the website.

13 is big when it comes time to heat treat the sucker!

No Gabe that's the problem. Everytime I start out to make a little knife I end up with a bowie or camp knife. I just can't seem to get those little ones done lately.
