Hi guys,

Once again, your wisdom would be appreciated.

One of my favorite knives is the Randall #25 Trapper. Only hick-up is the price tag and 3 year delivery. There are a couple on ebay and it looks like they will be sold for close to $400.00. I buy too many knives to spend that much on just one!

Blackjack makes a similar style knife called the Trailguide II. Does anyone have any experience with this knife?

The blade steel is 52-100...is this a good blade steel?

Do these knives come razor sharp & do they cut well?

Thanks for your help,
Collector

This is an excellent knife that comes razor sharp. It will perform as well as that Randall without all the extra cost and and wait for the legends and myths. 52-100 is good steel. It was standard on Marbles knives until last year and many mourn its passing.

I also recommend that you visit the Blackjack forum on knifeforums.com

I have one, its a decent knife. I've word that some of the blades used in the TGII may be old production A2 steel blades, but most of them are prolly what they say they are. The bevel is nice and wide, and it balances well. The micarta handle is a little slippery when doing light chopping, but otherwise is well finished and comfortable in general use.
