Affordable Custom Folders

Here's a tip for people wishing to carry a unique and distinctive custom folder without taking out a second mortgage. Contact your favorite custome knifemaker and have him rework one of your production knives into something special. I've been doing this sort of thing with Frank Recupero recently and the results are stunning. He's done a Standard Spyderco with red stag scales and file work, a Benchmade Mini Stryker with green malachite scales and even a black pearl Spyderco Toad. The cost is quite a bit less than designing and building a custom knife from the ground up. Something to consider.
