I am looking for a chart that specifies all the alloy content from tool steels to stainless steels used in knifemaking.

If there is a site like this, could you please let me know.

Thanks

Thomas

Hi Thomas!
I have a list of elements on my site, and how they affect the properties of steels. If your looking for the exact make ups of the various steels, then you'll have to go with each company. If you look closely at the same types of steel from different manufacturers, you'll see in the spec sheets that they are not all exactly alike. Each company tends to make a "slight" modification to their formula to make the steel uniquely theirs. This is not a hard and fast rule, but there CAN be enough differences from company to company that it can make a difference for knifemakers. The best advice I can lend, is to get a spec sheet with any order of steel you receive.

The link to my site, where you will find the element content pages is....

Thanks all for the info.

Ed, I do get composition charts with the bar steel I order. I reacently got some info from a Europen steel company, and they specify that with every new batch of steel to inquire about HT. Even the same mill does seam to have variatios to there products.

George, exactly what I am looking for.

Regards.

Thomas
