I kinda feel like this climber....

laird_climbing_mmt.jpg

Almost to the top....but still dangling dangerously....

Man....this has been a wild ride...I can't believe I'm almost done....

I managed to shape, sand and sandblast the remaining handles.

Here they are....ready to be scrubbed.

So, here's what's left to do:

- Scrub w/ hot, soapy water to remove blast media
- go around the edges with a 400 grit belt (including blanks)
- etch my logo
- sharpen

That's it!

Well...technically, I will need to build about a dozen of the Tactical Option kydex sheath kits...and then there's the whole "packing-up-and-shipping-over-a-hundred-knives" part....:foot:

But the end is near, folks!!!

It seems so long ago when I first started the design thread....so much has happened since then...and while waiting for a knife has been a test of your patience...I'm pleased to be able to deliver these Much earlier than expected!

I feel great!!

:D

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz..............

That's really incredible, I definitely didn't expect to be seeing mine before February even. So much steel! Great work!

Dan the man, thats awesome. I am pretty stoked to be abble to get mine, if you get them soon enough I may have you mail it to me over here (IRAQ) keep up the good work my friend!!!!!!!!!

Dan-

Your work is very impressive! You've made a lot of great looking knives and in such a short time!

Andy

thanks guys.

I have had a lot of help....this being a "mid-tech"...I had to relenquish control of the project here-n-there to other parties to work on...and you all were ESSENTIAL in helping me achieve a design that I could produce quickly and efficiently.

Overall, I am impressed!!

Also, I am looking forward to running this kind of production again...it has been a lot of fun....good hard fun, of course. :D

PPFFTT! You have done well beyond what any of us expected I'm sure. GREAT job! Great knife!

Great job Dan. It is awesome to see the process, from design idea to execution. You are making bushcraft history! Can't wait to use this bad boy!

No, no , no Dan.
That climber is going down.
He's alread been to the top. He's only half way.:p

I've been watching this from the beggining and I must say that it's moved along at a good steady clip. No hiccups that I could see. I'm impressed! and a little depressed that I couldn't afford to jump on the wagon too.

Good work Dan.

Amazing work Dan! This knife is one of the toughest little companions I've ever had. Now that you're almost done you can turn your attention to my dingo  or the axe  or the WSK  or that massive blade project  or...... forget about it.......................

Best thing about this was all the information and updates you gave us. I'm just surprised you had time to make so many posts and take so many pics.

That part of the process has been "streamlined" too....:D

:foot:

Burch - working so much near Tom...has taught me not to fear being compared to a girl. :D  :p

Thanks for all the kind words, guys!

There are some days that I wonder if I have spent more time typing, checking/updating orders, etc....than I have making the actual knives!!!! :o
