I need to know what you think is the BEST 9X11" sandpaper bar none and where do I get some???

Now that I am using my disc sander more and more I find I am running thru sandpaper like @##% thru a Goose...

I have tried three different types of 3M, Norton and some off brands. None of them will give me more than 1/2 a blade on each grit.

Is this normal?

Thanks to some of the other makers I have Emailed for their advice. Maybe this thread will help us all:D

That would be normal if you haven't glued a rubber disc onto the metal part. If you haven't yet, you can pick one up through K&G and just 3m adhesive spray it on. Then place your disks onto it... they will last about twice as long.

Great question Robert...I'm having the same problem. I'm using some AO paper from the local autobody supply shop. I'd like to get some high-tech abrasives in the 9X11 sheets....but I have'nt seen any in small qtys...(10 sheets). Something like "cubitrons" , "trizacts"....etc.

Sincerly,
Rob

Burn,
Thanks I do have a K&G pad on my disc.
It is one of Rob's beveled 9" discs, which IMO is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I can clean up a 11" bowie blade and not have it kicking back at me.

By the way Rob I am saving my pennies for one of your grinders:D

Maybe someone has a good source for 9" nonsticky Discs made from 3M Regaloy or a comparable quality product...

Robert,I use the Klingspore Blue PSA discs on my 2 disc sanders.Don't know if they sell them without adhesive or in 9"x11" but they hold up better than anything I have ever used.Sorry I don't know the actual name of them but I just ask for the blue disc's.Dave

My experience trying to use sheet abrasives on disk sanders has led me to believe that it is false economy. I get 10-20 times the life out of a (more expensive) PSA disk, which has much heavier backing, with none of the hassle of having to change abrasives after 30 seconds (if I'm lucky) of grinding.

do a search on ebay for the sanding diacs. I bought 100 8" discs for $16.20 including shipping, they are 60 grit A/O with a heavy paper backing.
And you don't have to waste time cutting them out.

Supergrit Abrasives had full size Blue CZ sheets in varous grits without glue, maybe still in stock?

They seem to sell mostly closeouts.
