Hi y'all,

I've been waiting for the Talonite page to be completed so that I can order some to try out. Well, the pages of info is up, but the ordering page isn't.

So I've thought to source it another way. I know there are a number of makers out there who work with both Talonite and Stellite 6K. I was wondering if anyone has any spare pieces or small off-cuts. I would like to fulfill an old design which would require something the region of 6.5 x 1.6 x 3/16, but let me know what you have and what you want for it (cash or trade, though I don't think I have a lot to trade with). I might be able to use it. Thanks to everyone. BTW, I would prefer Talonite.

To the moderators: I apologise if you think that this post is in the wrong forum and should be in the For Sale/Trade forum. I only thought to post here because I might get more response from the people who actually make knives.

go to http://www.carbideprocessors.com and get the 800 number. Call it and ask for Wendy and you can order some, as little or as much as you want, any size, and you can use your credit card.

Dangit. Can't call 800 number cause I'm not within the US and I can't seem to find any email address. Gonna have to see what I can do.

Ain't anyone got some small off-cuts or something? I can pay by international money order, or trade something. Anyways, gonna leave this hanging for another week or so before I call Carbide Processors directly. The piece seems so small, I bet they'll laugh their heads off.

Like Tom says, call Wendy, here are the numbers.

Toll Free 800-346-8274
Regular 253-476-1338
Fax 253-476-1321

Thanks guys. I found an email address. And the reply came back so fast, they must have someone manning the computer 24/7.

$115 seems a little steep for such a tiny piece, but I think I'll bite the bullet and try it out.

Thanks for the info, guys. And for getting me hooked in to something the rest of my family and friends can't understand.

Was it 115 US-$ you are talking about? Seems not only a little steep to me. Sounds more like a ripoff.

Yep. That's USD$115. I recall calculating from the figures on Rob Simonich's webpage that it should only cost about USD$70. But what can one do? This is a monopoly and it's a highly demanded item. That is bound to drive the prices up.

Unless someone knows whom I can turn to?

Steelwolf, how did you calculate the price to come up with $70? If I could get it at that price I would be happy!

Tom, You having supply problems on the Big Island?

Think about the supply problems I'm having on this small island (Singapore, where I'll be for one more week before I head back for studies)

Rob, I'm not 100% sure of that, and I can't check it again since you seem to have taken that particular page of information off your website. Maybe the piece I was calculating for was a little smaller? Can't remember. It was quite a while ago.

Whatever the case, Carbide Processors are the only one making this stuff right? So they have a monopoly.

BTW, whom can I ask for Stellite 6K, apart from David Boye who makes that dendritic stuff?

If you were originally looking for 1/8" and not 3/16ths the price you remember would be close. Stellite has a website, go to stellite.com
