I picked up some Amboyna Burl this spring and had to fine folks at K&G stabilize it for me. I got back some pretty impressive wood...so I had to make a bowie.

This Bowie/Fighter has a 5 1/2" hand-rubbed blade of 5160 high carbon, spring steel with a long false top bevel and a full distal taper (10 1/4" total length). The contoured guard and pin are nickle-silver. The handle is stabilized Amboyna Burl wood with an obsidian throat and black spacer. The knife is shown with a carved "lion's head" blade sheath and tooled belt loop by Tess.
Thanks.

great-looking knife! That sheath is fantastic too. I'll probably be seeing that one in blade too. ;) :D

J & Tess,
Nice looking combo! Great pic of your family in Blade, smiles all around.

Thanks for all the kind words you guys. Tess is having alot of fun with the carvings lately. We're in the process of moving her into her new shop now. She was working in a small spare bedroom of the house. Now she's got a 13x15 shop next to my cold shop. I'm hoping for a few more carvings once she's settled in. :D

When's Danny moving into HIS own shop, J.?? It's about time he started doing a little scrimshanding to earn his room and board, don't you think? ;) ;) ;)

Great looking blade, my friend! (and a beautiful sheath, Tess!)

:)
