Anyone wondering where C.J. Buck is this weekend? Guess what, I found him!

Buck Knives has a display at the EPIC Outdoor Game Fair at Foxhall Resort & Sporting Club outside of Atlanta, GA. I worked at the Georgia Trout Unlimited display at the fair and quickly found the Buck display.

This fine fellow (the one on the left) sold me a knife:

Since his engraving pencil wasn't working I had him sign the box.

The fellow on the right is my good friend Bill, who is president of our local TU chapter.

A few more shots:

C.J. is quiet gregarious and, it turns out, an avid fly fisherman (virtually a requirement if you live in Idaho). He and Bill chatted it up for a good 15 minutes.

Surprisingly, Buck was the only knife manufacturer displaying at the show. There were a few custom knifemakers in attendance, but nothing really significant. Buck essentially had the show to themselves.

I wish I had been able to attend, but won't be in Atlanta for another few weeks.

I actually like the idea of having the box signed.

Thanks for the pictures!!

Buck was the only knife manufacturer there, although there were a few booths displaying custom knives. Buck really had no competition.

Truthfully, if I didn't get a free pass as a 'vendor' (our Trout Unlimited council was given a free booth) I would not have attended. Entrance fee was something like $34 per person plus $5 parking. It was mostly vendors/exhibitors walking around talking to each other. There was a lot of complaining from the vendors about the low turn-out and the obscene prices (example - $12 for a pre-packaged sandwich and soft drinks were going for $3.50). The venue was put together by Safari Club International and it was mostly for the tony gun & garden set, with polo exhibitions, 5-stand sporting clays shoots and lots and lots of high end African safai booking agents. Still, it was fun seeing how the eeevil rich enjoy themselves.
