I have a Grip with a 154cm blade. I use it for cutting plastic, cardboard, and synthetic ropes.....most of which are very dirty.

What is the best, most durable angle to sharpen at? Frm what I read it seems to be under 20* each side, so the total edge is LESS than 40*?????

I use 40 degrees inclusive on my work knives (ZDP Delics 4s) and 30 degrees on my EDC knives (Caly 3s and Sebenzas). Both settings can give you a very sharp blade. Just remember to remove any burr that forms while you're sharpening so the edge lasts longer.

The 40 degree edge is going to be a little tougher for heavier work. The 30 degree edge will slice a bit better. I work in a warehouse and have to cut cardboard, zip ties, strapping material, and sometimes thin wires.
