Finally, I have placed the official order for the line of Machete's I've drawn up with Imacassa. I should have samples of all 4 of these by the end of April, and hope to have the blades around Blade Show time. Maybe even in time to bring a few to the show! (what show? Right...) Wanna see a pic?

There will be 4 models: 12", 14", 16", 18". I'm very excited about the 12" model because paired with a belt knife and pocket knife I can't imagine a better bushcrafting trio. Light, batonnable, shelter-able. The finish is going to be like the Collins Machete's I've been modding, which, it turns out is a sandblasted, then heat treat scale left on finish. They will be tapered over the entire length, and they'll come edgeless, so the edge will be put on by yours truly. The handles will be Natural Canvas Micarta at the base price.

My target base price for these will be $100 shipped.

Oh man, those look AWESOME!!

I'll take 2 of the 12 inchers just as soon as they are ready! So cool!!

The 12" is 2.5mm, and the rest are 2.2mm. Tapered over the entire length.

So is there a possibility of Cocobolo, etc. in the future? Are you doing the handle-work, too, or are they?

Either way, the machete market just changed! I don't think I've ever seen more than about 2 handle styles...and maybe two blade styles that I remember - none of them as ergo or useful as these. I hope they are able to follow your drawing closely, because the lines of the 12 incher are lovely.

ah man.. those all look great Andy.. i may have to look into one in the future...

Those look awesome! I particularly like the 16" one, and if I had any sort of reason to own a machete now, I would be getting one. If you ever start making a golok or khukri model, I may just get one anyway :P

*mumbles about lack of woods in Phoenix*

There will be handle upgrades available. Of course!

nice, these look like great users. Anything as far as sheaths or will that be left up to us?

And I can't wait to ship em out.

Is that overall length or blade length...? BTW, I got the modded Ontario from you today.

IIRC, machete's are named for the blade length? Thats how I did it anyway.

How's the Ontario?

Dude - sounds to me like you have a winner on your hands Andy. May your grinder never stop whirring and your steel selection be full!
