Another blatant rip-off?

Forgive me if this has been addressed already, I have been away for a few days. I was in my local cop shop today and saw a new neck knife from Smith-Wesson that is a blatant rip off the Ralph Neck Krait. I for one love custom/production collaborations as they allow those of us that can't have every knife we want to get a well made similar knife, but ripping off a design is just too low for words. This little knife has the slots cut in the blade and the handle is the same shape as Darrell's. His name was nowhere on the knife or package, so I must assume (hate that word) that he did not approve it. If I am wrong, someone let me know and I will go back and buy it just for sticking my foot in my mouth.

Hi Lewis,

I was in North Carolina this past weekend and I saw that knife as well. As the co-designer of the Krait I was wondering when Darrel and I would be receivng our check.

The reality is that unless you patent or copyright a knife design (which is difficult and costly)there is not much that can be done.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Darrel and I are very flattered.

By the way, the real Krait neck and boot knives are now available. Email me off line for more details.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Les-

Maybe you and Daryl can at least put the squeeze on them for a pair of Air Lite Titanium revolvers!! I shot one this weekend, what a GREAT back up pistol!!

I have also seen the S&W neck knives. Maybe S&W should call them the "Koot" neck knife to avoid confusion.
