Hello, I am looking for a dealer who carries these. Also do they have a belt slot on the sheath? if not how do you carry them.

thanks

They are getting tougher to locate. A Gransfors dealer told me they aren't getting another shipment from Sweden until April.

The sheath does not have a belt slot or loop. I just drop mine in a pocket or pack.

Slide the handle between belt and pants, and it disapears until you need it. I take it dayhiking all the time.

I just saw one yesterday, and it had a belt loop on the sheath. I was really surprised at two things.... it's TINY! and it cost more than the next higher up size. (I can't think of the name right now... massive brain-fart going on). Actually there was three things... I couldn't believe how SHARP:eek: this little axe was. I was severly tempted to buy it, but I currently have no time in my life to go backpacking or hunting. Someday....:(

The belt loop must be a recent upgrade to the sheath. Sounds like a good idea.

The axe is tiny, but it performs surprisingly well. As you noted, the factory edge is sharper than many knives offer. I hope you eventually get one (and the time to use it!).

try A. G. Russell. there is one in the latest catalog. you can also check his website.

It was mentioned above that the minis edge is sharper than most others like it. The reason it's so sharp is that it's quite a bit harder than usual for an axe, on par with a decent knife blade, about 58 Rc according to the maker.:)

Arathol,

You are certainly correct about that. It is excellent steel.

By the way, welcome to Bladeforums and please come back often!

Well, I went and bought the one I saw. Simply an amazing little axe! I was wrong about the sheath though. There was a similarly sized axe by Wetterling (?) that had a belt loop on it's sheath. I liked it's price better, but the quality didn't look up to par with the GB. The store owner ended up knocking off $10 because we had some good discussion about many things sharp and pointy. Or, maybe he just took pity on me. I love my little mini.

What I've been doing with my convex edged knives is really simple and inexpensive. Get a mouse pad, 600 grit wet/dry paper, 1500 to 2000 grit wet/dry paper. I double sticky taped the paper to the mouse pad's squishy side, and basically strop away! Returns edges back to screamin' sharp in no time. Just this past week, cut up a huge pile of cardboard with a convex edged Lamey bowie... only took a few passes on the 2000 grit to get back to super sharp.
I'm sure this system will work well for the GB. Just make sure you use wet/dry paper and NOT sandpaper for wood. Probably want to experiment with the grits though. The grits I mentioned work well for knives, don't know yet the combo for the GB.
