Made by wrapping and welding a farriers rasp. This one has an extra chunk of 1095 forge welded in for the bit. Hickory haft with pewter caps. It has filework on the blade spine you just cant see it in these pics. 3" wide cutting edge..

Thanks guys, we take pride in the way we make these "wrap & weld' hawks. All done by hand, usually in a coal forge..Took a lot of trial and error learning how to weld these things up the right way. No seams, no pockets/voids around/behind the bit ect..
Then the real test of a good weld is forging in the lower part of the blade and "upsetting" the edge of the blade to make it wider. If you have a bad weld anywhere you'll find it real fast..Espically when you start upsetting the edge right where the three pieces of metal are welded together.
I had to learn all this the hard way :o

One of the nicer rasp hawks, indeed. I just don't like the looks of rasp hawks that look like a chisel. This one does look like an axe blade - good job!

Thanks, we appreciate the comment. Im the same way.

I dont like a hawk with a little narrow blade. They dont look right and are a pain the butt to use. Thats just me anyway.

Very nice. I really like the hawks I've seen made out a of farriers rasp.
