thought some of you might like to see what i did today. Used Rit Dye dark green. half the powder in a bowl of hot water. Let it soak for 15 minutes. Next time i would use less dye but happy with how it turned out

thanks for looking

it's a good looking job, but how does it last in the long run?

been thinking about doing the same to my 6 and i'm wondering how it stands up to time and the elements

Very nice...I have always wondered how the dye would work and now I know...Thanks

personally i like the "used" look of my 6, the darkening of the handle from dirt, sweat and well ya blood, but its deer blood and thats ok

How did the dye job work with the material that is on the back of the scales? Did soaking it make it come loose or loosen the adhesive?

I am also interested in how dying the scales affects the liners attached to some scales, like the 4 and 6 I believe.

Great job... I've got an OD Izula and like the plain colored handles on it but that looks nice

The contrast of those two colors looks fantastic. Well worth the risk.

Sounds like a Sunday project. I've RIT and not too afraid. Think I'll order spare scales to practice this though.

dyeing the scales hasnt affected the ones i've done, but i dont use the rit soak it in it dye. i use fiebings leather dye.

it has no effect on the feel of the micarta either canvas or linen.

take it easy

That is what my 4 scales looked like after I used it for a few hours. Had more of a red tinge after gutting a few squirrels, but looked close to it. I cleaned it off though. Didn't fancy the smell.
