antique swords on ebay

I am new to ebay, and was checking out some antique swords on there today, and was somewhat shocked to see a large number of WW2 era Japanese Katanas (among others) being sold from China -- evidently with very few bidders.

Now, I'm quite ignorant when it comes to the value of these things -- but shouldn't an antique sword in reasonable condition typically go for more than, say, the el-cheapo movie prop reproduction pieces of junk ($50 dollar range)?

Is it possible that the lack of bidding is due to a well-known Chinese scam or something? (it doesn't instill me with great confidence to see descriptions like "It will is very high collect the value!" and my personal favorite "I believe such a kind of sword will help you scatter the spook and bring you the good luck and health.")

Just what the heck is going on?

Yep, fakes is it.
If you look around, you'll find these theives from China seeling the same items with different user names, multiples of the same "antique" with the same exact pictures.
This doesn't just apply to "Japanese" swords, but all manner of fake antiquities.
I would not buy anything that a seller has listed with a China location.
Oh, and sellers with feedback or buyers that are private are ones I will never do business with.

Antique'd' is what they meant to say, which is a new thing made to look old. NONE of these are 'real' as advertised and if you look at the shipping charges you will realize where the real money is.
DON'T DO IT!

the real stuff is very well documented and is usually sold individual-to-individual....

Thanks, fellas (and to those who answered on the duplicate thread) -- that's pretty much what I figured. It's quite interesting how much energy these people will put into making a crappy sword that will almost certainly sell for next to nothing.

Greed is a great motivator. Remember, the money is not in the product. It is in the S&H.
