Anvil Help!

I'm Looking for an anvil, can anyone help me with what is a good brand to look for?? And what to look for?
any help would appreciated...also where to find um.

Hay Budden ,Trenton, Fisher ,Mousehole,are all good anvils.

Look for a forged body, they will have sq. handleing holes in the body of the anvil. Take along a 1" ball bearing, when dropped from about 24" it should almost return to your hand, rebound is the heart of the anvil if it has no rebound it has no heart. Take a pass on those anvils.

Put an ad in the paper ask everybody you know, somebody is bound to have one buried in the back somwhere. lotsa guys find the "buys" like that.

Bigger is better, bladesmithing a 100 lbs up should do unless you are breaking down really big stock.

Rene: It took me 2 years to find a good used one in a yard sales. A Fisher 220# for $.75 a pound
