Any of you into airguns?

I don't have much of a collection....*poor* :o....

But I do like 'em!

I had to get out and do some shooting today....about 30 rounds through my Sam Yang 909s (45 cal).

Heckuva fun airgun.

Been really thinking about getting a .22 cal air rifle.
Big enough to be bad, small enough that you can shoot all day and not break the bank.

I have some .177 jobs I had as a kid. But you cannot take anything with them humanely. From what I understand some of the newer .177 jobs will cause significant ear damage over time due to the sonic crack of the projectile.

Even though it is "just air", wear hearing protection. Better safe than deaf.

.45 cal airgun? Sounds interesting.

I have 2, and fire them a couple of times per week at home.
a Weihrauch HW97K in .177, and a Röhm Twinmaster combat, which is basically a double-action revolver on C02..

The Weihrauch is stunningly accurate.. I'm waiting for the spring to break, so I can get her tuned with a new spring, pistons, and a good lube job. I never had the courage to take her apart myself.
The Röhm is for what we call 'plinking'. Shooting stuff like soda cans, playmobil etc. to pieces.

I'm saving up to buy my first PCP, which will be a Daystate or a Theoben in .22

If you manage to shoot accurate with a springed airgun, everything else is a breeze. I shot a lot of fire arms, but learning to group the Weihrauch was the hardest of them all..

edit
In my Country people are very nervous about firearms, but our airgun laws are very liberal. There are no limits to power, in contrary to surrounding country's like Germany and the UK.
Airguns like the 'Beaumont' are available up to .50, 325 grain and deliver waaaay over 500 joules. That's more then a .22 delivers. Hunting with airguns is forbidden though, and they can only be used on private propertie or the shooting range. Most popular calibers here are the .177 and the .22. Popular springers are Weihrauch and Diana (German) and popular PCP's are AA, Weihrauch, BSA, Daystate, Theoben, Evanix, FX ..

sweet gun!

And you know your stuff too...;)

I am strictly a PCP guy now....no recoil, easy to shoot consistently, lots of power. What's not to love?

Oh yeah....the scuba tank I hafta lug around....:p

I have been know to be a bit of a pellet head!! :)

I love them all, pneumatics, pcp, springers, CO2... they can all be VERY good!

From what I understand some of the newer .177 jobs will cause significant ear damage over time due to the sonic crack of the projectile.

With airguns/pellets you really NEVER want to break the sound barrier. I could go into the science of it but basically the diablo shape of pellet design upsets when it crosses the sound barrier and the adversely affects accuracy. A good rule of thumb is to keep them around 950 fps. The marketing craze that Gamo has gone off on about MAXIMUM fps with super light pellets is STUPID! Its hard on the guns also. Much better to go with a much heaviery pellet and keep the fps under 1,000 fps.

Love 'em! I have a Falcon FT (older field target stock) and a Crossman 2250 that I had Mac Airguns in LA modify with longer barrel/bigger tank ...
Put a couple collapsable field targets in the back yard, fire up the BBQ, and me and one of my buddies are havin' fun for hours (the wife even likes to watch the targets collapse) ... I'll have to take a couple of pics and post 'em .. tons o' fun !

I have a nice .22 Benjamin PCP but I can't shoot it anywhere because I live in New Jersey. I have to dress like a Ninja and sneak outside so I can take a shot at the crazy woodpecker that is absolutely destroying the side of my house, then run back in before anyone can see or hear me. It sure is dialed in though! Crossman recently came out with a new model that is dead silent. I NEED it!

The HW97 is boringly accurate i haveta agree.

I have a tuned Diana 34 right now with a James Maccari kit in it. Sweet shooter and boy does it get the job done every time? Check the pic, Mods, if you find the pic too gory, feel free to delete.

Oh and does anyone have the new PCP from Benjamin, the Marauder? At $500 its a super accurate and quite rifle. I have been meaning to get one.

I love them too. I bought a Beeman Crow Magnum in .25cal about 10 years ago. Last year I went the PCP route. Bought a Teoben Rapin in .20cal fully modified from Allen Z. Bolt action, 12 shot magazine, 935-950fps and around 6 mags through it before I refill. This airgun is boringly accurate at anything under 80 yards.

I also recently aquired an FX Ranchero pistol in .22cal. Fun gun, I wish it was as quiet as the Rapid.

Wow - I bet that Ranchero is a blast!

maverick3981 - I have a Marauder and it is an awesome airgun!
