My son is wanting to try bowfishing. I've never done it, but it does sound like fun. I was looking for some pointers on equipment. Nothing too high end, just good bang for the buck gear.

Thanks.

I only went once and it wasn't planned. I'd been out turkey hunting and had broadheads and stumping heads. Turkey hunting sucked and these carp were just waiting around to get punctured.

You don't need lots of gear - just do it and plan your shots and you don't need anything special at all.

google and try to find a local bowfishing tourney. they will have contacts and most are more than willing to point you in the right direction. around here they sell cheap but decent bowfishing equipment in Gander Mtn. Dick's, etc... i have been a few times. my cousin has 2 fishing bows. its fun and not too much $$ needed just to get started

I tried to go uber-cheap on my setup. Cheap martin takedown bow that runs about $150ish at basspro that I got with gift cards I got for signing up for a timeshare while I was in basspro that day. Out of pocket price, $10! Then my wife bought me a muzzy fishing kit for $89 also at basspro. Total out of our pockets, $99. You really can't beat that price, but you could come close getting a used bow at your local pawnshop. Hope this helps!

I have a custom 20' BOWFISHING boat and fish tournaments and in the next month I'll be guiding!!
