Any Crowfoot owners out there?

I have been looking for a small fix-blade and the Crowfoot looks like the winner. I can't tell from the website if they were available last August, or will be this August. It sounds like a couple of you might have them. Any feedback? What steel/handle configurations do you have?

Thanks all,
Thom

Thom, they are available now. Ill let any owners of them speak on how they like them or not. Thanks!

I own a Mid-Tech Crowfoot(in S30V with black DLC coating and carbon fiber scales) as well as one of Rob's prototypes for this model. In my opinion, the Crowfoot is the finest small fixed blade on the market today. Top-notch materials, custom-level craftsmanship and an extremely versatile design. I usually carry mine as a neck knife, but it works just as well for belt carry. I've always liked the idea of a neck knife, but most of the models I've seen are compromised by either low-end materials or designs that limit their utility. The Crowfoot has neither of these problems...S30V is one of the better steels available, and the blade has an very practical shape. The edge is thin enough to be a real cutting machine, but it has also been quite durable in my experience. Highly recommended...

I've got one, DLC coated with blue CF scales. My experience has been just like UglyJim's. I was looking for something a step up from my Fallkniven WM1 and almost got a Camillus Mini-Talon. But the Crowfoot has the right steel, heat treat, and geometry (meaning fantastic blade performance) plus a comfy handle, the versatility of the kerambit hole, and the quality of a Simonich Mid-tech. Even the sheath is top-notch CF pattern concealex from Normark, one of the best. I got a great deal on mine from a fellow forumite, but even the regular priced G10-handled uncoated Crowfoot smokes anything else at its pricepoint. The Mid-tech line is exactly what I've been looking for in terms of high quality designs and materials at production prices. I can't wait for the Urban Raven, and I would have the full-sized Raven if I didn't have enough large knives in my collection.

I cannot claim any expertise regarding knives. I confess that I own a couple of Al Polkowski's fighters, but I usually carry very plain jane spyderco delicas or rescue juniors. While cruising the internet I ended up seeing Rob's Crowfoot completely by chance. I frankly did not know anything about Rob Simonich one way or the other, but I knew instantly that I needed to have that knife. Mine has the DLC coating and grey CF scales and it is simply GREAT. I have since gotten into further unexpected trouble, by buying one of Rob's custom Hawkbills, also great. IMHO, you can't go wrong.

Rob, is there going to be any more carbon fiber Crowfoots or is the blue/black G10 the only option now. I have been looking for a Crowfoot in CF with the DLC coating for a while now with no luck. I like the green/black grips on my Raven an Urban Raven, but the blue just does not do it for me.

I have one of the cf/dlc coated Crowfoots, and carry it every day, and I have to say that I use it almost every day....I like it!

I bought a DLC'd Crowfoot for my son in Vegas..
We LOVE that little damn knife.. We use it all the time around here... Holds a damn killer edge too.

I used to have two S-30V with G-10 handles. I donated one somewhere in Southern California. I just hope whoever found it appreciates what he has thanks to me letting it fall out of my pocket.

It is my favorite fixed blade. Cuts extremely well for such a small knife, actually it cuts extremely well for any sized knife. I wear it as a neck knife while swimming and fishing and it lays around as a bench knife when I am in the shop.

Thom,

I carry a mid tech S30V, the blue CF grip with coated blade, EDC. Great little blade, cuts and slices like crazy. Holds an outstanding edge. Light enough that I don't notice carring it all day.
I don't think you will be disappointed with one.

I dont know the name, but I bought one of his neckers in Vegas, just like I do every year........going to hang onto this one at least until the Blade Show..........56 days away!! :p :D :p

I just got a new Crowfoot this week. What an awesome knife! I like it more everytime I handle it. I've been carrying it in my right front pocket and it rides great there. With the neck cord looped over my belt and the knife riding blade forward I can put my index finger through the ring and pull and the Crowfoot magically appears in my hand in a reverse grip.

I like the looks of the Bitterroot and hope to pick one up at Blade. If you tell me that the arrowhead cut out was sized correctly to open a beer I'll buy more than one :-)

Thanks for a great knife, Rob. If the rumors of a Wharncliffe blade Crowfoot are true I'd like to line up for one of those as well.

I've been the owner of a Crowfoot for about five minutes now (me very, very first Simonich knife oh boy! oh boy!)

I'm quite honestly still not sure what to think about it yet. It came pretty darn dull outta the packaging, won't even think about taking any hair off the forearm. That surprises me....but on the other hand it gives me an excuse to rub it against a stone and play with it tonight in front of the tube.

Not entirely sure about the fingerhole thingie either. It feels pretty odd in my forepaw. Not sure if it's just an orientation curve, or if my forepaws is gonna be too big for this one. (If they are I got a feeling the wife will be quite eager to take it off my hands) Hope I can get used to it though.

On the bright side it looks about five times better in reality that it does on the monitor screen, very, very attractive!

also a damn nice size and blade grind, has one of them blade styles that just begs to become an every day companion. Blades the perfect thickness all around, tough enough to not worry about breakage, but thin enough to cut quite efficiently.

I've already found it to be VERY quick to access due to that same fingerhole that's takin' me some gettin' used to.

Big reason I wound up ordering it was to replace two knives that I sold, and came to miss. One of them was my beloved Emerson La Griffe (yeah, I know they're a dime a dozen, but this one had enough wear time to have developed a sentimental value I wasn't aware of until it was too late)

The other one was a small Ed Van Hoy that was just about the friendliest, handiest lil' fixed blade I'd ever had.

I figure I get the cool finger hole with this one, it'll carry real nicely, and it's also quite well suited for daily exposed carry. Won't upset the herds too much. (not a huge consideration in the overall picture, but a bonus nonetheless)

"Karambit style? huh? I dunno what yer talkin' 'bout Sir, this here's jus' a purty lil' Bird an' Trout knife....."

Off to the kitchen to put a quick edge on it and cut up some meat an' veggies wid my new toy!

(golly gee willikers I are excited!):D
