Hey guys

I am looking to pick up a cocktail kit , my wife wants to learn how to play and I wouldn't mind haveing decent small kit at the house in case any drummers come over to jam.

Any suggestions I am not looking at spending a fortune so DW's are out, even the yamaha Jordan club set is out of my range,

I found a set from Gp Percussion for around 300 buck but I never heard of GP before,

Any where in Michigain thats good to look for drifferent drums??

I play bass(upright and electric) mostly jazz and swing with some blues
thrown in for fun, so a cocktail kit fits well.

thanks
jimi

Small kit? If you don't mind ultra-portable as well :D, check out the Pearl Rhythm Traveler kit. I picked one up for $300 on Craigslist, and it's an amazing set for it's size and cost. Decent hardware, junk skins, and great shells. Single headed toms though... check it out.

There's definitely some good places in the Detroit area to look at gear. I think Guitar Center (Roseville) has some drums, I used to go to East Side Music (Roseville) for all of my horn needs, not sure if they have drums though. Joe's Music in Eastpointe has drums I believe. There's another store called Full Score Music that may or may not have drums (that is either in Grosse Pointe Woods or else St. Claire Shores). All of these stores are within a ten mile radius, and probably only about 25 minutes from the Windsor Tunnel. If I can think of anything else I'll let you know.
