For people like myself and others who are new to the wonderful world of fixed blade Striders, it would be great if you old-timers would share some tips on the use of the SOE sheath that comes with them. In my case, it's the BT-SS...

Hi Lynn. I tend to use a right handed drop-leg thigh holster when in the field, which seems to take up my whole right side. This greatly limits the space for the other right hand dominant necessitities on my web belt. Not to be without a fixed blade, I thread zip ties through the eyelets of the SOE sheath and into the web belt. It feels similiar to going for a concealed pistol in a SOB holster with a cant. In other words, Ican easily, quickly and cleanly draw the blade. It took some time to get comfortable resheathing.

I am not recommending this method, I am just demonstrating a method that works for me. It would be easy to gig yourself under stress

I would say do not use your own ass as a sheath. Be careful when sitting down with an SLCC Mick Strider Custom.

Other than that, the SOE sheath is one of the best out there and they can be attached or carried in just about any configuration. I find mst of the time when hiking I use the drop leg style most on my right side, most times when hiking I am not carrying my gun. When I am carrying I go with left side reverse draw carry to keep GB folder and if I am carrying the fixed blade BT, or SA also on right side behind hip to stay out of the way of the gun draw.

One other thing periodically take the kydex liner out and wash it out, then blast it dry, this will cut down on dirt getting in it or staying in it. If dirt does linger you will get lots of scatches and might wear the kydex a bit.
