I had no idea that one of Steve Gatlin's knives had won him "Best New Maker" at the 2008 Blade Show when I purchased the subhilt in this image.
And I am WAY embarrassed that I wasn't aware of Steve Gatlin - especially considering the quality of his work.
I also understand there is an article about Steve Gatlin in the current Knives Illustrated, though my copy hasn't yet arrived.
Anyway, I would love comments about his work and/or images of what others here may have added to their collections.
EDIT: Here are the facts on the subhilt in the above image, from Steve Gatlin's website:
Loveless/Johnson Style Sub-Hilt Fighter
ATS 34 Blade Material
5.75" Blade Length with Tapered Tang
Black Canvas Micarta Handle
416 Stainless Pins
Red Continuous Liner
416 Stainless Guard and Sub-Hilt
Stainless Thong Tube
