The "Digital Series" M2D with a lamp voltage regulator (LVR) are in the 2002 catalog, but they don't seem to be available yet. The LVR is supposed to provide constant light until the last 15 minutes of battery life. They it provides 15 minutes "emergency illumination" so you can find your spares case or employ your backup light.

I'll search candlepower forums when I get home and if I don't find an answer there I'll post another inquiry there.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Surefire is very innovative and turns out unbelievable products, but they are not quick to market.

This is a good thing, as they thoroughly test their products before release-that is most of the time. ;)

Try posting on the Surefire forum.

The M2D ain't gonna happen. :(
Better things are in the works! :)

Technology have moved on since the SS2002 in Feb2002 this year.
The kind of light output that the M2D prototypes produced can be done using different technology.

The closest you'll get to the M2D is the A2. This will be the first Digitally Regulated SureFire with an incandescent bulb (with a fusion of three LEDs in the same reflector thrown in for good measure!). The A2 is still being developed. We hope it will be out before Christmas.

Why not check out http://186thousand.com (SFDB) for the latest news...
