Anyone change scales on "Needs WorK"?

i'm going to make some from g10 when i get it back from my friend who's testing it out for me. i might make some both thick and thin just to see what i like best.

I did not change scales in NFW but instead change blade in JYDII to be like NFW.

Thanks, Vassili.

I REALLY want to put SOME type of alternative scales on my Needs Work... I have it in my pocket, and it's just too bloody thick! The bumpy bits don't help, either, even though they're necessary given the handle material.

The sad part is, the new scales will easily cost more than the knife did :(

Vasilli,
You are close to my perfect knife there.
I would like the Junkyard Dog I with the "Needs Work" blade partcial serrated with the microtek serrations.
Lucky Bob - my thoughts exactly.

Here is my modded Needs Work, blue/black g10 scales, reversed a boker subcom clip for tip up carry, mosaic pin plugs over the stop pin. Pics don't do this knife justice.

Nice work Colog. Any chance of you posting top & bottom pics, that would show thickness?

Vassili: That JYDII looks sweet! Nice job.

Man I'm getting sensory overload on this site; makes me want to start some modding projects.

How exactly did you attach the screws to the g10 on the clip.

Don't mean to step on Cologs toes here but think I can answer based on others Ive seen.

Usually you drill through to the liner and then tap it. No threads in the G10 and screws pass through to the tapped threads in the liner. Pretty common mod on the Junkyard Dog to mount for tip up carry and put a regular ZT/Kershaw 2 screw clip like on the Skyline/350/30x/etc.

Lots of resurecting of long dead threads lately..

yeah I guess that would be the easiest to do...I just wanted to make sure thats what he/Colog did since he went with a 3 screw clip.

thx

Solidorange now owns this one I did a while back. Its slightly thinner than the stock model but it feels so much better with G10 rather than the plastic.

You weren't the one who bought it?! Oops hahaha. I could have sworn it was you.

i know i called seconds on it, but didn't end up with it. i always seem to miss the FS threads for things i really want by a matter of minutes. in fact, i missed getting my hands on another orange blur at a great price by 6 minutes yesterday.
