Title says it all... anyone strip their Heavy Heart? Got a picture?

Thanks!

John

I have one. Striped, in the white, not polished.

The do have a certain rough industrial quality about them when they are left in the white, unfinished. Not for everyone I guess.

The blade grind is not bad though. Almost a satin finish, if just a bit on the dull side.

Thanks for the pic - did you use chemical stripper, sand blast, or elbow grease? :D

Just your garden variety hardware store paint stripper (with meth. chloride). I thought it would be a bear to get off but it took just two passes followed up with some #00 steel wool.

Cool, thanks!

Does anyone know if a drill and scour pad will close the dimples, or does closing the dimples in prep for a DC finish require stock removal/excess sanding?

Thanks!

John

It's dimples and bumps. You'll have to take the metal down a few thousandths to get a blemish free, smooth surface. I think by the time you're there you're probably down under the HH's claimed .270".

Then I did some polishing. I had added all this and the details, as well how to fit the HH into a Spec-Ops Survival sheath to a couple threads several months ago. You find out a hell of a lot about hardness and temper when trying to polish by hand.
