Anyone know about a maker w/ initials J.W.?

My nephew horse traded for a clip point hunter with the initials J.W. stamped in the blade.The blade length is about 5" and the handle is moose horn with fingers extending from the handle,making natural finger grooves.Any help would be appreciated.
