Anyone seen/touched/bought a Blackhawk CQD Mark 1 Type E?

I went out on a limb, and just bought a CQD Mark 1 Type E combo edge today....cost me $69.93 shipped. Has anyone had any experience with one yet? I know they were just released at the beginning of this month....but yea.....beings the MOD CQD Mark 1 was discontinued (according to Blackhawk), I figure that my two MOD CQD Mark 1's which are unused, will never be used....so I got the Type E for my EDC and beater now....
 
I too was wondering how the new Mark I was. The original U.S.A. made models were among the toughest I've handled. I have heard from the owners of the new Blackhawk Hornet and one of the other models that they were no where near the quality (fit and finish) of the original MOD versions. Kind of surprising considering most Taiwan made knives are pretty decent.

yea.....I have heard bad things about the Hornet II....but a guy who has the CQD Mark 1 Type E told me fit and finish, as well as lock up are satisfactory....so, we'll see.....I should get mine delivered by Wed of next week.....I will post a full review....I am still saddened by the fact that they are discontinuing a wonderful, high quality knife......I'm glad I got two of the MOD CQD Mark 1's........looking around online, they are disappearing....
 
hey, jfletcher, can you post some pics of your Mark 1 Type E? I'm interested to see where the secondary safety is.....in all the pics I've seen, its not looking like where it is on the MOD Mark 1's....

If you don't have the MOD Mark 1 yet, you can buy directly from CQD....you will pay their price, but you can get the sterile, top-sharpened version as well there......I have had good experiences buying from CQD when I got a prylon sheath for both of my MOD CQD Mark 1's......they sent me the wrong prylon sheath....didn't have the tek-lok on it, so they sent me the correct one, and let me keep the other one....so now I have a prylon sheath for my Type E now....no tek-lok, but it still has the straps for the belt.
 
i have a blackhawk garra 2 and be-wharned, both are made in tawian, and both are excellent quality. the cqd mark E should be pretty good.

I have one but I think I might pass on the E for the sterile version now that you mention it...
