Just wondering if anyone has sharpened their 42 swedge? I'm in the process now, but it may take a while.

It it's sharpened, then it's not a swedge, it's a false edge. Edge because it's sharp. False because it doesn't run the full length.

I did one. It took a lot of work with the old Gatco Edgemate using the extra course hone.

Is it just me or does the swedge on the newer BM42s seem thicker and, therefore harder to sharpen, than the old ones?

I stand corrected. If it's a swedge, sharpen it. Once it's sharpened, you have a proper weehawk with a false edge.

A friend did one for me (ex-knifemaker extraordinaire).., and said it was much more of a workout than some older ones he'd done because of the the initial raw stock removal before getting to the finish work.
