I picked up a few a couple of weeks ago and have already used them several times. I like 'em.

A rope/cord tensioner. Damn things work really fast.

I have the original Figure9s and recently came across these and bought a pair which I keep in my BOB. I think they're a pretty need concept for sure!

Nite iZe has some cool stuff. Don't they have another rope thingy? That looks pretty handy!

Wished I would have thought of this design. It's just one of those things when you start using it that you don't know how you lived without :)

I put them onto my shopping list some time ago, but there are some items that have higher priority. I figured they'd be convenient for tarp lines, especially when it's cold and wet and knots become a real challenge for numb hands.

Oh OK. I have several neat little gizmos from Nite Ize, but I don't do anything with ropes or climbing. Much less chance of falling to my death if I just stay on the damn ground.

How do you typically employ them? I was looking at them a while ago and couldn't figure out how they were that much more useful than standard carabiners and knots. Not being rated for climbing is a minor downside.

I use them in my truck mainly. Hook the carabiner end into the ring on the truck. Run the rope around whatever I'm trying to secure, do a simple wrap around the figure 9, pull it tight and lock the rope into the catch. Simple and quick.

I just saw those on going gear yesterday and was checking them out a bit. They look dandy.

God bless,
Adam

My suggestion if you are going to use these for tarps tensioners around trees, etc. is to make up some paracord loops that you can wrap around the tree and clip back into the Figure 9. That way you already have everything and it would be super quick to set up a tarp with these.

I have a few of them. Got them for the guylines on my tent but prefered the old adjustible sliding knot better so I stored them. Never thought about using them in the truck though......

I bought some of those last summer while preparing for mine and my sons back country trip. They didn't get used. I found it easier to just use knots and honestly I forgot I had them.

I pictured them being handy if you were short on cord and needed good tension. They don't weigh anything, so I've left them in my bag.

I have some of the standard figure nines for hanging my tarp. They weigh nothing and are easily added to my bag of paracord. Very fast and no need for any knots. Worth the very small price-tag.

I should look into the 'biner ones though.
