Minimize AOL and launch Netscape or IE externally once you have connected.
Surf as normal.
Also, if you are stuck using the AOL browser, look at your Cache settings in your preferences. Change them appropriately if your browser is caching the pages. AOL has a proxy server thing going where they sometimes store the pages you visit on *their* server, so one way to avoid that is to have your browser bypass any proxies and download the pages from our site every time.
