Just got my Apogee today. Must say that Mr. Ralph is a master at anodizing. The colors are outstanding and very vibrant. Opening is as slick as butter, and I really like the two tone satin finish on the blade. The crosshatching on the handles seem to improve grip but time will tell. I really like the concept of this knife. Mr. Ralph, I salute you!

I remember wanting a large Sebenza so bad that I could taste it. I finally was able to buy one, and I was thrilled with the fit, finish, style, etc. A week after I bought a medium Apogee, I found so little satisfaction with the Benza, in comparison, that I sold it.

Maybe this is apples vs. oranges, but the Apogee is that awesome!

Art, DDR does make fantastic knives, that's for sure! His anodizing of the Ti handles are perfection and beautiful to look at.
It's hard to bring yourself to actually use it....but once you have you'll be glad you did! Glad you like your Apogee!

I have a solid carbon fiber med. Apogee. It is a great knife. It's overall profile compares to the AFCK. I consider the AFCK to be one of the best production knives going. With a similar look and feel, i think the Apogee is what the AFCK was meant to be. I'm glad I bought it. However, my personal favorite from Darrel is his EDC.

I have a small apogee and I absolutly love it... the knife to me is flawless, it also has a"WOW" factor built right in when people see it they want to check out the cool colors!!! thanks again Darrel!

I'm impressed with the Apogees I have seen over the net. Is it really a step up from the Sebenza or is it simply cooler looking? Does anybody know if Darrel Ralph will be at the Gateway Knife Show in St. Charles MO next week?

Anthony, I don't think Darrel will be at that show. In my communications with him, I got the impression he was going to be busy for a while.

I can't speak for any of the integral lock Apogees, but the liner lock Apogee I have is very solid. I would be very surprised if you had any complaints about any of Darrels knives.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, and exactly why I have an order in for an Apogee (integral lock, tip-up carry). The AFCK is my favorite folder, and daily carry. I wanted a custom that would be sort of an "ultimate" AFCK, with all of the strengths, and none of the (few) weaknesses. When I saw the Apogee, I thought "THAT is the one!!".
Just ordered last week, so it'll be awhile. Darrel has been a real pleasure to deal with.

I just wprked out a trade for a medium sized Apogee at the St. Charles, MO Knife Show today (If you live anywhere near St. Louis, check out the show.) The Apogee is really nothing like the Sebenza. It is much thinner, lighter and sexier than the Sebenza, and it is also a bit harder to open and close. It seems to be knife that needs to be carried in pouch. The anodizing is just beautiful.
