Are Busse's financially a good investment?

Besides the obvious reasons for wanting to own dozens of Busse's knives, are they something that I would see a return on investment in, say, 5 yrs?

I love collecting but I also like selling something that has increased in value to purchase more. That way my collection doesn't get stale.

They will not lose their value in that time, and might increase in value slightly, but if your intent is to make money, you are better off investing in the stock market.

If you already have enough money to afford a bunch of Busse knives, then your time, effort and up front investment is not as lucrative as the stock market or many other investments.

If you are doing it for fun, then you could make a couple of bucks.

If I spent half the time I spend trying to get Busse knives doing more of my regular job, I would most likely have more money in the bank and more Busse's in the safe. The hunt for the next score is a big part of the fun for me.:)

recently busses have been going up in price and bringing a premium on the secondary market. both older models and newer ones.

however i would not count on that always being the case. if you buy with the intent of investing, you may be disappointed in the long run. there is a good chance they will go up or at least stay at their purchase price, but again, no guarantee.

oh man.. ain't that the truth!
"my job's getting in the way of my knife collecting dammit!"

NO!

You think they would, cuz rare, and price goes up right.
But the thing is.....it is a good investment IF you plan to sell them in future.
Truth for me is...I was gonna do some kind of investment to make money off my Busse, but I ended up keep them all, try to find more. How does that help financially:confused:

When you try to sell one, you regret, you missed it. I had experienced through situation as such. End up finding something else to sell for financial difficulty. So you ask me, I'll say NO. You will want to buy more for sure. :D

Thanks guys, I'm really just looking to buy one every now and then and someday in the near future selling one in order to buy 2 more. I'm not looking to retire young on it. They're just beautiful knives and there seems to be a large demand on this forum for them.

Ps. I too should be working now instead of reading the threads.

Do you get an email everytime someone posts in one of your threads?

I'll bet monkey business like this must really drive you mad. :D

You know, you can eliminate the emails if you go change settings in User Control Panel (CP).

When I buy something, such as a (collectible) knife, I like to think I can get my money out of it in the future, but this certainly is not always the case.

I have made money on some, lost money on some, and broke even on the majority on a good portion of what I have resold.

Some of the wisest advice I ever got concerning collecting:
'just buy what YOU like!'

Hey, where IS your "PROMPT REPLY" policy?? :grumpy:

Alright, I should go back to work too instead of messing with ya :D

I don't think there's much question of getting your money back out of knives bought from the shop or BCS. You might make a little money, but as others here have pointed out, it's not going to be huge. (Except for the FBM LE's, which will be going for $2K in a couple of years. :D) Secondary market is a different story. The knives I've paid a premium for are all knives I'm planning to keep and use without question: MrS, ABA, AD, for example. I would not pay secondary market prices if I thought there might be a chance I'd want to trade or sell on down the line.

Depending on the model/how long you wait and desire for it you could make some money. However I think you would have a better time just using the knives.
