Are you impatient when receiving knives or knife related stuff.

The reason I bring this up is because I'm waiting for the current issue of Tactical Knives. I know its out because I saw it in the magazine section in the local grocery store and I usually get my copy before it hits the newstand. I don't mean any disrespect to our postal carriers but I keep having this thought in my head, a postal employee looking like Newman from the Seinfeld Show, sitting around his apt. with my copy of Tac Knives in his hand and then putting my mag back in the delivery process after he's oggled every page.

I am impatient when waiting for lots of things mail order. Most specifically knife and motorcycle stuff. In fact I waited all last week for 2 knives. My MOD Ladyhawk came on Thurs and I was expecting my other to arrive yesterday or today. However, something went wrong and the knife got sent back to the sender. Now I won't get it til next week. Woe is me.

...YES!! I'm waiting for a monster Bill Siegle Bowie that was sent to me on Wednesday (the 30th, 3 days ago), and it ALREADY feels like I've been waiting for it for a month now!! (If it's not here on Monday, I think I'll have to look into getting a prescription for some good sedatives.:D.).

I think it is part of why I like ordering from the internet. I could pay a bit more and get the knives I like over the counter, but that isn't as much fun as ordering and expecting the big brown truck to have delivered something every evening when I get home from work. My son always gathers around to see what has come and and often want to beat me to the package. :D

Waiting for the delivery of a knife is exceptionally painful ! :(

But, so gratifying when the large brown truck or the small white van (USPS) pulls up to the house ! HAPPY ~ HAPPY ~ JOY ~ JOY :D

And then. . .more anxiety sets in. . .before you open the box. A bazillion questions race thru your head as you hold some type of tape and cardboard cutting device in your hand. . .poised to shread the square or retangular box that holds your new possession. I just spent $$$. . .and now it's here. Is it really as nice as the pictures ? Are all of the parts there ? Is it wicked sharp ? Any damage or "bad" marks on the blade, scales, bolsters, guard, etc. . . ? AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

As you slowly cut thru the tape and cardboard, ever so careful as to not cut to deep and damage what's wrapped so tightly in the box ! You carefully remove a small bundle (or large) from the box. . .

Once opened and completely exposed. . .you hold your new possession. . .up and towards the knife gods, as if it were gold or a precious jewel. And it is ! :D You behold it. . .in all of its beauty and glory. . .for a minimum of 5 days ! So proud are we ! ! :D

Life is good ! !

But. . .to answer your question; "No. . .has absolutely no effect on me !" ;)

...impatient, touchy, moody, edgy (hah, hah), and generally a real pain for anyone near me... :D
I hoped to get my CS SRK last Friday, but alas...

So right now I'm actually hoping for the weekend to end as soon as "possible" ( :D) and then, for every new day of the week the d*mn thing DOESN'T arrive, that ever-increasing urge to receive that black-coated generally sheeple-unaccepted potentially lethal sharpened object...

I order today I want it today. I just finished tracking
a sword that was supposed to be delivered Friday.I call
OOPS(UPS) and their answer was "I don't know why you
don't have your package"

I know what you mean, but I always then tell them "well, in that case, I don't know why you still have your job", just before I hang up.

This painful state is what we lovingly(hatefully) refer to as "The Wait". Symptoms usaully include but are not limited to:
 • Repeated calls to online knife dealer
 • Looking out the window at the sound of any large deisel
 • Repeatedly going to knife dealer's site to look at pics of your knife
 • Sharpening your knives not because they're dull, but to kill time
 • Planning a "knife party"
 • Smoking twice the amount of cigarettes you normally do
 • Calling the knife dealer again

There isn't a more sad, helpless, and depraved state than a knife knut waiting for his fix.

I am i will leave a note in the mail box to make sure mr mailman brings the package to the door, i call all day to keep checking when i am in work, i have my son play hockey at the mailbox to keep a look out, when i do get the package i will leave it alone for a little while before i open it cause i get too excited and don't want the feeling to end, kinda like christmas when i was a kid

Man waiting really sucks, i'm waiting for a waved emerson cqq7b and have been watching the cqc7b wave demo mpeg for thier site for about 45 minutes strait:eek:

Me? Oh hell yes! When I have something incoming -knife/flashlight/pen/magazines - I want it yesterday :D Even 2nd Day or 3 Day Select shipping STILL isn't fast enough!! Though, kind of a cheapskate I don't want to spring for Next Day Air or something like that. Usually when I get a knife from a maker in transit, I usually request the tracking number so I can follow the package's progress to me.....I'll check it several times a day like I do my email :D

Well I guess I'm normal, if you can call any of us normal. When I order a knife, my wife calls me a stalker for stalking the mailman, UPS guy, checking the online tracking, etc.

OK, where's the camera you have at my desk?

Just printed the UPS tracking detail for a Camillus Mini-Talon from Knife Outlet. Due here on Tuesday, but now UPS says they "are unable to track." WTF?

More waiting, I guess.

Nice thread. But no, I have the totally chilled zen thing going....if I order them, they will come. Besides, I'm busy with other stuff to keep my mind off it.

I am very impatient when I am waiting for anything that I want. I find I am the most patient waiting for custom knives. As much as I want them to arrive, I realize that they are going to take a certain length of time and it does not bother me until that time has just about arrived. Then I go crazy. Once it has been shipped it seems like forever until it gets to me.
