I went to BJ's Wholesale today to pick up a few things before I head out for vacation next week. I walked past the jewelery counter and browsed around and spotted a G-Shock Atomic Tough Solar with the SS case and SS link bracelet, model # MTG900DA-8V. So I checked it out and I really liked the looks of it so I bought it. Guess how much I paid for it. $97, I paid $97 for a watch with a MSRP of $150+!!! WOOHOO!!!

Here is the watch.

Nice watch, and you got a great deal! I think you only paid about $25 more than I paid for my Atomic Solar with synthetic band

Me too.

Don't gripe, guys -- you've had yours longer! (That's what they call early adopters. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer toys :D )

Thanks Ken!
I'd just read up on this "Atomic Timekeeping" thing a few weeks ago on the web and was kicking around getting a replacement for my Rolex that I wouldn't mind beating up.....and Voila' your post caught my eye. Cost at my BJ's $99.95! I'm a happy camper....maybe I'll digest all 71 pages of instructions before I die! :-)
Working in a hotel tonight so I had to take it outdoors to get the time signal.
This is going to take some getting used to....I've worn Rolexes since Christmas of '73....wish me luck!

I am real pleased with this watch. Excellent readout. The display is large and distinctive.

I think I've gotten through the instructions all right. I'm sure I forgot something ... :)

But I can't resize the bracelet! Those little link pins are too small for my decrepit eyes and fat fingers. I'll have to try again in the morning.

Ed,

Take it to a jeweler in town. They have the correct tools to size it for you and may not even charge you for it.

Oh... I've been wanting one for a while. But I really want to get some of the versions available only in Japan.

Links -- OUT! Watch -- ON! The combination of daylight and a jeweler's loupe ... YES!

For the benefit of those interested in such matters: the watch is 5/8" thick and 4 oz. -- a quarter pounder! And she gleams in the sunshine :D

OK, I couldn't resist. I ordered the MTG-900DA-8V from DynaDirect and I got it yesterday. I gotta say, I love it!! I only have my DW-9400-1V (thermometer G-Shock) to compare against, and here are my observations:

a) The MTG-900 sits more flush with my wrist. The DW-9400 utilized a nylon and resin one-piece band and stuck out A LOT. Granted, G-Shocks are large, but the MTG-900 is easier to live with.
b) I love the big digits.
c) I wish it had a countdown timer.
d) The alarm is too weak. In comparison, the DW-9400 seems much louder.
e) Love the time sync. Works fine in NYC at night.
f) My battery meter is at M. I wonder how long before I get it to H?

All in all, a nice watch. I think my Citizen World Timer is going to take a vacation for a while. :D

.....in the owner's manual that tells how long it takes to advance from one level to the next in various lighting conditions.
