whats the deal. who is the best for which purpose?

any chance of a CPM440v endura soon?

Here is what I know about the differences:
Ats55 vs 34-Ats 34 was designed for use in the blades of jet turbines, requiring high strength and high tempreture stability at any cost. Ats 55 is a modified form, without as much Mo, but with a little V I think, for industrial knives. Therefore it is significantly cheaper and only slightly softer/weaker. It does not have the high temp strength of 34, but that is not really needed in a pocket knife.

CPM440v is another kettle of fish. I have very little experience with it, and will let another tackle it's strengths and weaknesses.

CPM440V is a high Vanadium steel. Very expensive, and probably the highest ranking stainless steel at the moment. If they made a 440V Endura you loose the concept as it would cost $$$. 440V is also harder to grind and sharpen than the cheaper ats-34 & 55. Please remember that blade configuration, sharpening angle and your sharpening skills are far more important than what steel is used.
