I have finally added a links page er pages to the collector site. These are knife and non knife related. If anyone has a favorite site they would like to see added to the list or even a new catergory all together please let me know. Oh and does anyone have any info or pics on the Gambler? I had a collector ask some questions concerning this one and I am not familar with it.

Regards,

Tom Carey

Thanks for the 'labor of love'...you've done a fine job, and we appreciate your effort.

Unfortunately, I have no info on the 'Gambler'...but I do have some info on the A/F's...the A2 was used rather late in the production, starting around knife #4200...not early on.

Also, it appears that a few white and green lexan handle sets were supplied to BJK by Col. Applegate, and those sets were used up within the first 20 knives, but there weren't 20 sets of handles...

For example S/N 00000 is white handled, S/N's 00001, 00002, 00003, and 00017 are black handled, and S/N's 00019, 00020 are green handled...hope that helps.

Mel,

Thanks for the info I am revising the AF page in light of this information and thanks to all for the kind words and support.

Mel,

I was wondering if you could check out the revised version of the page which is now on the site to see if this goes along with what you have told us about these knives. Also if anyone has any of the first 20 knives can you tell us what the color of the handle is on your knife. We might just get all these nailed down someday.

Regards,

Tom Carey

That's pretty close, but...

I think the only inaccuracy is about S/N's 19 & 20 being the 'only' green handled versions. I believe your picture does show S/N #10 as being green handled, and I've heard there was at least one more....other than that you're pretty much on the mark.

The fellow that has #19 also had #20...he tells me that they were both green...we're trying to buy #19 from him now.

We have #17, and it's black handled. My 'color-glossy' copy of the J.C. Devine catalog from the Applegate Estate sale clearly shows, and identifies, S/N's 00001, 02, & 03 as black handled versions.

When I talked with Bill Harsey at the Eugene knife show a few weeks back, Bill told me that the Col. supplied the non-black handles to BJK, and he thought it was around a half dozen sets...

(Bill had all the white and green handle sets, so he should know, but didn't want to talk about BJK, period.)

It's a real shame that that 't*rd in the punch bowl' Ted Wood has/had S/N 00000 in white...there just 'ain't no justice' I tell you... ;)

Hope that helps.

Great site Tom, kudo's! :D

Mel,

Once again the page has been changed. Thank you very much for the kind words and your help with the site. I agree with you about that T guy. It's a shame a guy like that has had so many nice knives.

Tom Carey
