I have seen some knive sheaths made of Kydex, but I was not so impressed as I was when I received my new pistol holster from Blade-Tech.

I am a traditionalist, I like the smell and feel of leather, I like wood, I like carbon steel, I like natural materials...

BUT the Blade-Tech "plastic" holster is absolutely the best pistol holster that I have ever used. It is unbelievably secure yet fast, and it does not need any maintenance at all.
So (and this is difficult for me to say):
no more leather for me-Kydex rules!

I have two Kydex sheaths for my Combat Commander and they both have a funny sound to them...... not a bad sound or noise, just odd! I cant realy get used to it. The leather is very quiet. I can't realy say anything bad about the Kydex. They are made well. Getting wet makes no difference. It's just that sound when you draw the gun.....I do like the Kydex mag holders better than the leather ones though. They hold tight and "pop" the mag out nice when it's pulled.

So far, no daily-carry kydex pistol rig breaks free of the traditional "pull it out the hole in the top" thinking.

I've got a few plans to change all that. With Kydex, you do NOT have to keep "plugging along the same ol' way" but with new materials...you can REALLY get radical.

I have a couple of kydex holsters. I like the "action", they are the quickest in my opinion. The pistol seems to "jump" out of them!

I found the only draw back is this- in the field if you get them gritty inside they will scratch a polished blue gun. I guess the way around this is to keep them "sqeeky" clean.

Another point- make sure your holsters inside is very clean...then put a little armor all on a paper towel and wipe the interior of the kydex...from fast to wicked fast.

I like kydex but it just dont have the feel of the Milt Sparks 55BN at my side!!

Hey, Jim, I really can't wait until you get a hold of some Kydex for yourself! I think you'll see there are more challenges to the non-traditional methods than you are thinking there are! Should be a good time, though, and I'd love to see the first couple attempts! Good luck!

Yes, it makes a funny noise when you draw the pistol, but I wouldn't say that it is annoying in any way. This would be a disadvantage only if you are into covert operations !...

By the way, Kydex must be the ultimate solution for hot and humid jungle conditions.

Is kydex any less comfortable than a good leather holster for in the waistband carry of a handgun?

Does it wear high spots on the gun or knife.?

I like my personal hand boned leather holsters and have never had any problems with them. Only thing I don't like is that inside the pants, you can't see it to appreciate the beauty of the holster.
