Axis-Lock Legality in California

I have no idea what a 'gravity' knife is, and since Balisongs here are switchblades are Axis-type knives legal in California? Why is it that I have to hire a lawyer just to do anything fun?

The Axis is not illegal in Cali, UNLESS you keep it open, AND carry the OPEN knife CONCEALED...
FYI, though, most cities have local ordinances regarding knives...

Skunk, it's because carrying an axis lock makes it easier to use your knife, which in turn leads to you becoming a murderer. Good 'Ol liberals.

An Axis lock is legal (or, at least, not a "switchblade") because it has a "detent or other mechanism that provides resistance that must be overcome in opening the blade, or that biases the blade back toward its closed position".
