Does anyone have experiance with balanced khukukris?I`m not sure of the point.

FNG: The point is rather pointless - they are supposed to be equally weighted so that they can be balanced on one's finger (edge touching the finger) without falling off. Maybe it has something to do with the "throwability" of the khukuri.

They certainly are neat LOOKING khukuris. I have one in stock, but don't carry them on a regular basis because they don't really do anything different than, say, the mini-jungle.

I bought the other one that Craig had . It is a great little knife. I think it is the most nimble blade that I have . I have handled a mini-jungle , and the balanced feels more like a fighting blade than a chopper. If you are looking for something for offensive/deffensive porposes , get that other balanced that Craig has. Have him send it for the Kydex treetment and you will have something better than a Bagwell Bowie .

The balance point moved closed to the handle lowers the moment of Intertia of the blade making it much easier to move around. You have to generate far less torque to counter act the weight of the blade which will in effect pull down at its center of mass.

For example take a piece of bar 6 feet long and swing it from one end and then swing it from the middle. The mass is the same in both cases. All that has changed is the distance from your grip point to the center of mass.

Thanks,I understand physics.I don`t understand the weight distribution. That must be one heavy handle.

It's not a heavy handle , it's a smaller knife with better balance. The blade on mine is about 10-11 inches. It weighs about 1 lb.

Very cool. Now I may have to start bringing them in since I now see a purpose behind the design. I've always subscribed to the notion that design should be deliberate, and form should follow function.
