bali ring?

I like. Too bad it wasn't titanium. Go with the brushed, it'll look better longer with the dings and scratches of daily wear.

phat! :D

a bit expensive, though... not sure if i'd pay that much for a ring like that. it's not like it's gold or anything! ;)

but a bali-ring would definately be kewl.

Actually Tony, the ring is made out of titanium. I remember someone here on the forums had one made as a thumb ring awhile back but I can't recall who it was. Maybe if enough of us here were interested in one we could get a bulk discount.

Titanium? In that case: Sign me up for one. Size 8 1/2. One can never have too many titanium wedding bands....

And looking back, I found the thread: It was Balilover's design/commission. I knew that ring look familiar.

So, is anyone up to getting this going?

sure i'm up for it, but i don't wanna pay $190 for it... could someone check out if we can get some sort of discount, perhaps?.. if so (that means the discount is big enuff ;) ), i'm INTERESTED! :D

Yup, It's mine. It's Ti, and it's been worn everyday since I bought it. I wear it to work, to my MA class, when I'm flipping, and when I lift weights. It shows some serious signs of usage but almost looks like a jeweled Ti liner now.

Blade420, as for countersinking the holes, don't believe for a minute that I didn't ask. BUT, on a curved surfact like the ring, countersunk holes will stop looking round and start looking oval. Look at how little material is left on the outside of the big holes, thats not much, if you were to countersink it, it would have even less. As for having 2 rows of holes, I hope you have LONG fingers because if I had 2 rows I wouldn't be able to bend my thumb.

Boone is a great person to deal with. He lives in my home state and from the time I commishioned the ring to delivery was like 3 days.

The Ti ring has almost no weight to it at all, almost like it's not even on your finger. If you get it polished, it looks quite a bit like platinum, but will show scrathes really easy.

Well, I gotta get back to work now before the boss catches me. If you have any other questions, please post em and I'll do what I can.

Ti is a bit of a dangerous choice for a ring. Sometimes, following an injury, rings have to be removed by cutting in order to save the finger. The tools that are commonly available for this, that are carried by paramedics and on hand in emergency rooms, won't cut Ti. The goal here is to cut the metal, not to grind through it. In this type of a situation, there's probably already an open injury and having bits of metal and grinding stone flying all over the place isn't exactly the most sterile practice.

Playing devils' advocate.

Most of the hand injuries I've seen that required the removal of the ring are the results from some kind of compression damage (car doors are most common). Typically the rings were severly deformed by the damage as well, and the only way to remove them is to cut them, as compressed rings WILL restrict blood flow. In these cases, I would prefer to wear the titanium over gold; because it can provide some form of protection in it's structural integrity, over the easy malleability of gold. If the ring poses no rick of restricting blood flow, doctors tend to leave them alone, as properly sized rings won't interfere with the healing process.

I have one of these as well, Boone made both my wedding band and my Bali ring like the one shown here. He has excellent service, as well as product, and if you read his feedback and frequently asked questions, he covers the aspect of an emergancy situation where the ring must be cut off the finger. However your explanation of flying bits of metal sure paints an ugly picture.

He only uses 6/4 Ti because of it is easier to machine than 6/6/2 and stronger than CP1. If I remember correctly, emergency services that are forced to cut a ring off, have the tools to do so, and there are no special tools or blades required for his rings that you would'nt have to use with platinum and some gold. True you probably cannot use a pair of "wire cutters" for the job but this ring is supposed to be strong:) Besides, with the stronger material being used, a ring does not need to be as thick, making it all the more comfortable and less noticable to wear. You will forget you are wearing rings on your fingers!:D

I give them two thumbs up.

well I would get one, but then again I'm getting this

$590. I'm paying about $400, my parents are filling in the rest as a christmas present.

My precious...

I already have the $35 one, but that's getting pretty worn.

Those are neat... ...I've never owned a ring in my life. These are tempting!

for those of you with weak hearts, or stomachs, Please do not look behind the curtian...

I had my wedding ring made by a local goldsmith, who has been doing some really cool stuff with lost wax casting of precious metals.
He's done some sterling silver Christmas tree orniments, and even a nut cracker that works, out of silver. I was thinking of having some bali handles cast for me, I think that would be pretty cool...

My ring is 14k white gold with a second casting of silver in the holes... I was trying for almost a mokume look, but I like the result.

uh oh, I think someone forgot to tape the blade while inventing the ultra double spin backflip rotation twirl with cheese opening.
